Noro Kureyon socks

I've been neglecting my blog in favour of Ravelry. Sorry non-Ravs. I wanted to post this pair of socks that I made with the new Noro Kureyon sock yarn. The colourway is S188 and, yes, I made them idential twins! I did this by noting where I started the first sock, then after completing that sock, I searched for the matching color repeat to start the second sock. I may have been off by a yard or two, but it's close enough. These were made on a size 1 needle (magic loop, of course). I cast on 80 sts and just worked stockinette stitch (after a 1x1 ribbed cuff).

These are sooo pretty! I would love to know what you thought of the Noro sock yarn - was it nice to work with?

Hmmmm...let's see. It's rather harsh and when I'd spend a few hours knitting, it took quite a toll on my skin. I used a lot of lotion!! I've got another ball in my stash, but I'm going to take GFTC's advice to wind it into a hank and wash it first. I think the combination of harsh yarn and a size 1 needle isn't a good thing! The results are gorgeous, though!

I've seen these socks in person and they are gorgeous. And it took a lot of talent to get them to be identical. Good job! Maybe I better take that other ball off your hands if the Noro Kureyon sock yarn is too tough on your hands. Loved that little extra thing you did on the heel gusset. How did you do that again?

Aw, thanks, Sarah!

What I did on the heel was a garter stitch for the first and last three stitches on each row. On the purl rows, I did a SL 1, K2, then purled across the row. On the knit rows, I did a SL 1, then P2, then I did heel stitch to the last three stitches of the row, which I did as K3. It just gave a little interest to the gusset, since there was no other pattern in the socks.
