WIP - Rectanglular Cover Shawl

It's the shawl that will never end...Knit Picks' Rectangular Cover shawl. I suppose it got that rather silly name because it was featured on the back cover of a recent catalogue. Meanwhile, back at my knitting, I started this about a month ago and it's just half finished. Granted I've not been working hard at it as my work schedule has been extremely busy, but when I think of what I could have completed in that time, it drives me bonkers! I'm using Knit Picks Shadow in Lost Lake. The shawl takes 4 hanks of yarn and at $2.29 a hank, that's a bargain. The yarn is quite nice and the colour is just as it appears on their web site. I started hank #2 last Sunday, so it's taking me about 2 weeks to knit up a full hank, which means another month on this shawl...which is too long! I may need to set it aside and get some other projects done for the semi-instant gratification I seek!

Mari, it is a beautiful shawl! Maybe for the instant gratification you might consider a nice dishcloth - so many pretty patterns out there. Have you seen the "Garterlac" dishcloth? Maggie

Semi-instant gratification? Socks. Definitely. ;-)

Gorgeous shawl btw. I had my eye on that one.

Mari, it's GORGEOUS!!
Yeah, I know what you mean about the gratification. I agree with Opal..socks, baby!
I know this has to be a tedious knit....I remember your Olympic shawls!

Just when I thought that maybe...just maybe I would try a lace project with fingering weight yarn. Not gonna happen. Your shawl is beautiful, but I think I will go for a sport or dk weight instead per your many examples. I have the Pemberly pattern to start after labor day.

Dishcloths?? Me?? Dishcloths?? The only dishcloths I have are the gorgeous ones that my sweet friend Becka sent me! Thanks again ever so much, Becka!! And yes, socks are pretty instant gratification and I have so much sock yarn waiting...if only I could finish this shawl!! Sherilan, I'd rather be using fingering weight yarn than this lace weight as it would go quicker! I agree...go for DK or sport weight! I've used both and they give excellent results! I did the Pemberly in worsted weight, but I think sport weight would be better. It would give a more lacey feel, which would be lovely! I can't wait to see your shawl!

Saw your blog link on a comment you had left on the Knitter's Review Forum and thought I would stop by.

I've scrolled through your blog and you have done some amazing work! The shawls are beautiful, the socks lovely...awesome stuff!

Hi Mari,
Just looking through your blog. You have an awesome array of beautiful lace knitting. You are so inspiring. How do you get time for all those beautiful projects?

Oh, it's easy, Joan...I don't have a life!!

Actually I'm a very fast knitting but it's easier when you knit for a purpose! This shawl is taking so long that I feel that I'm not being productive at all!

Wow! It is gorgeous! I have just started this and I am already having problems. Any advice? For some reason I am ending up with extra sts after row 7 (5 to be exact) and when working the eyelet...is it noticble on the other side where you are purling to see the bar where you are supposed to purl the yo under it? My email is sunnyreflections@comcast.net. Thanks! I hope mine looks just as nice!
